Well Being Day
On Thursday 11th June, the school will have an extra focus on whole school well-being. It will be an immersive day where every child will have the opportunity to experience some different elements of well-being. These encompass; healthy eating, exercise, self-appreciation, team work, enjoying nature, relaxation and self-calming activities.
Every child will;
- experience a session with Sara Wood to explore breathing techniques for relaxation
- have the opportunity to do a sensory art session in the woods
- meet with another class to exercise and much more.
The benefits of well-being are huge and at Bentley and we want to teach children strategies and allow them to experience different well-being technique to use for years to come.
Children and staff are encouraged to wear comfortable active wear that you are able to do some stretches in. Leggings or shorts and trainers are advised.
We will also have a picnic-only lunch option and have lunch as a whole school altogether from 12.00-1.00pm outside on the back field. Our cooks are preparing a special well-being packed lunch with a ham or cheese wrap, fruit, salad and homemade carrot cake. These need to be ordered in advance. For the picnic lunch, it would be very helpful if you are able to send in any clearly named picnic blankets or rugs to borrow. Pass these on Thursday 11th to the class teacher and we will send them home again with your child that afternoon.
As you know, Mrs Vogel, our PSHE Lead, is currently working towards having Bentley accredited with the Well Being Award. This award recognises the promotion of healthy body, healthy mind in schools. Alongside all the work we already do in class, with the children and all the staff, our Well Being Day will help us to cement this mindset. If you would like any further information about the award, please contact the school office.
