As Deputy Headteacher, I am continually impressed by the positive attitude the children of our school display towards their learning and their friendships, and this week has been no different.  Everyone has been working hard and the whole school were wowed by Year 3 and 4’s brilliant performance of Yee Ha! earlier in the week.  Their American accents, super singing and dazzling dancing transported us all back in time to the Wild West and had us clapping along to the catchy tunes, wishing we all had a Stetson on our heads and cowboy boots on our feet!  A big thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to produce the play – Mrs Rushin, Miss Hastie, Mrs Rhodes, Mrs Phillips, Mrs Tessendorf, Mr Fay and Mrs P, you are all amazing!  A big thank you to the parents of Year 3 and 4 who helped children to learn their lines and provided the fantastic costumes too – they were great.

Today, everyone has enjoyed wearing their party clothes and dancing at their class discos all in aid of Cancer Research.  Cancer is something that will have affected every family in our community in some way so we are really pleased to be able to support this charity by raising over £400.

End of term arrangements

Thursday’s menu will change from Turkey Meatloaf to Roast Chicken and all children ordering a school lunch will receive an Easter biscuit.

All our children will walk up to St Mary’s Church on Friday morning for the Easter Service at 11am.  Book bags and water bottles will not be needed in school on Friday, but please ensure your child has a warm, waterproof coat with a hood. 

Parents of Year 2 and Year 6 only are warmly invited to come along and join us to watch their children perform, after which they may take their children home. All other children will be walked back to school ready for collection at 12.30pm. 

There is no Afterschool Club on Friday, and the school bus to Froyle will leave school at 12.35pm.

 

 

Governor of the week

Firstly…excuse the rather corporate looking photograph…

I am Lucy, a new Governor, having joined in January. I sit on the curriculum and standards committee and am mum to Finn in Year R.

I’ve had a reasonably ‘squiggly’ career, working as a creative, as a marketeer and as a organisational performance consultant. I am passionate about people, they are the route to every success…..this is why I currently work for a global consultancy that specialises in talent….from recruitment to organisational design through to culture and leadership acceleration. I am also an exec and life coach…and a riding instructor.

I grew up in Farnham and have lived in Lower Froyle for the past five years (our house is the one with two very noisy terriers acting as neighbourhood watch).

Life is a juggle for us all…work, children, and in my case horses and dogs….but ever since we moved to Lower Froyle I have loved the sense of community and have done what I can to play a part in that community. Now that my four year old son has donned his posh bottle green uniform and started the next chapter of his life …embracing Year R with his usual vim and vigour…..I am keen to follow in his footsteps and play an active role in supporting the school as it continues to grow and evolve….hopefully using some of my experience and background to add value where I can.
