this week at Bentley.....
We have had an enjoyable day in school today, celebrating the coronation of King Charles III. Everyone has looked fantastic in their red, white and blue clothing and we all enjoyed singing our special coronation songs in collective worship this morning.
This afternoon the children will come home with their coronation mug, kindly gifted by the Parish Council; this is a lovely keepsake of such an important historic occasion and I know the children will treasure them. There are still some available to buy if you would like one for another family member. Please see my previous email for details.
Year 3 and 4 have had a fantastic time at the Gordon Brown Centre and we’ve all enjoyed reading the blog to see what fun they’ve been having. A big thank you to Mrs Matthews, Mrs Scott-Bromley, Mrs P, Miss Hastie, Miss Oakley, Mrs Hamer, Mrs Cavanough and Mrs Bingham for giving up their own families, pets and hobbies for the week to support the children on their visit. I know there will be a mountainous pile of washing for you to get through and some very tired children this weekend, but lifelong memories will have been made, new skills developed and new friendships formed during their time away.
I wish you a lovely long weekend, celebrating the coronation and look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

Message for yr 3 and 4 from Mrs Scott-Bromley
There were a number of left behind items found in the Gordon Brown dormitories after packing up. We will bring these back and they will be out in the playground after school on Tuesday for collection. If you have an item belonging to another child, we recommend you try your class WhatsApp group to arrange a swap.
Mrs Rhodes’ Goring Gap Ultra Marathon
As many of the children know, I enjoy running in my spare time. On Sunday 14th May, I will be running 52km in the Goring Gap Ultra Marathon. I have 5 marathons (to date!) under my belt and have now completed my training for what will be the furthest I have ever run! It is going to be tough so I have decided to mark the occasion by raising funds for the Disaster Emergency Committee. This charity ensures that funds reach people who need it, in Ukraine, Syria, Turkey and Pakistan, fast.

Another call for Litter Picker Backpacks
Over the last few months the Eco Council has been discussing how to make our environment a better place and we have decided to tackle litter as one of our projects for the Eco Schools Award. We would like to introduce the Litter Picker Backpack to each class which will contain a litter picker, bags and gloves. The Litter Picker Backpacks will be hired out at weekends and holidays so that families can go litter picking!
To carry out this mission, we urgently need your help! Please could you bring in any unwanted backpacks and give it to your class’s Eco Council rep! These need to be big enough to contain a long litter picker as well as bags and gloves.
Thank you very much.

PTFA – upcoming events
⭐️ Coronation Scavenger Hunt - Tuesday 9th May, at school pick up.
£2 per scavenger - cash or card.
Come along and search for all the coronation items hidden around the school grounds. There is a prize when you have found them all!
⭐️ Summer fair - Friday 23rd June
Do you know of any local businesses willing to donate a prize for the raffle? Please ask around. The more prizes we can get, the better the raffle will be for everyone!
We have sponsorship from Hamptons Estate Agents for this event, and will be looking for houses to volunteer to have a sign outside to advertise the fair. Please let us know if you’d be happy to be one of these families or know someone who would.
⭐️ Bentley bike ride - Saturday 1st July
Do you have any keen cyclists in your family? This year it is a family friendly route of 30km, aimed at teens around 10 years old and upwards. Sponsorship is per family. We need lots of Bentley families and friends to get involved and enjoy a (hopefully sunny!) ride through the countryside. Return back to the school with a bbq and bar ready for you!
Please watch the video all about it here: https://youtu.be/R74MPKKnpOQ
⭐️ Camping Night on Froyle Rec - Saturday 22nd - Sunday 23rd July.
