this week at Bentley.....
What a fantastic final week of term it has been for us here at Bentley! We have been entertained by Years 3, 4 and 5’s brilliant performances of No One Wraps Like an Elf; eaten a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings whilst wearing our Christmas jumpers; had fun in our classrooms doing some Christmas themed activities as part of our learning and finally, Year R and Year 6 led us in a very special worship this morning at St Mary’s church, reminding us of the true meaning of the Christmas season. A huge well done to all the children for working so hard this week, in amongst all the excitement and late nights.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support this term, from baking cakes for cake sales, to helping out at PTFA events, to supporting your child at home with their reading and homework. I would also like to say a very big thank you to the whole staff team who have worked so tirelessly to meet the needs of every single child at our school. Their dedication, love, commitment and teamwork is what makes Bentley a very special community to be part of.
Thank you to all who donated to Cancer Research UK (one of this year’s chosen school charities) at church this morning. We raised an amazing £111.91!!
I hope you all have a good break over the holidays and wish you a very merry Christmas. See you in 2024 for the first day of the spring term on Wednesday 3rd January!

Celebration assembly
The whole school took part in our Celebration Assembly yesterday morning where certificates were given for reading, handwriting and times-tables. Please do check book-bags for the certificates. We know every child has tried really hard, so please do celebrate their successes at home. Many children made considerable progress this term and we are very proud of the terrific results. Thank you for supporting all their effort and practice, both at home and at school.
We also awarded S.T.E.P. (Sorry, Thank You, Excuse Me, Please) certificates and badges to three children from each class. Good manners are always expected at Bentley and the following children have shown superb manners over the term, in many different situations and were nominated by their teacher and endorsed by all staff, for a S.T.E.P award:
Year R – Robin, Bea, Pen
Year 1 – Theo, Ruby, Archie
Year 2 – Charlie, Theo S, Alexandra
Year 3 – Edie, Alice, Fouzaan
Year 4 – Louis, William, Emilia
Year 5 – Agnes, Rhys, Ivy
Year 6 – Pablo, Charlotte, Jessica
Congratulations to all our winners
