this week at Bentley....

My goodness, Mrs Miffling and I have just been reflecting on how the week has flown past! It only feels like yesterday that I was last writing to tell you all about the things we’ve been up to at Bentley CE Primary School!

This week in Collective Worship, we have been thinking about the Christian value of ‘service’. The children spoke with passion about the number of people who help us in our school community. We are very fortunate to have such a committed community here at Bentley – both inside and outside of the school. Our PTFA are most certainly one of the groups of people who help our school considerably. They work tirelessly to think of fun ways to raise money and to enrich our children’s time at school. Coming up soon in June is BFEST. The children in school have been busy rehearsing for their auditions and each class has been practising their class songs. Music is most definitely in the air here!

Thank you to everyone who completed the form I sent out to gather your thoughts on how we currently run residential trips. I am working through the responses, and look forward to sharing them with you in time. Some of you felt passionately about keeping the offer the same and others came up with suggestions on how it can be adapted. What was really pleasing to read, was how residentials are so highly valued by both children and parents.

Our Year 3 and 4 classes are all set for their Gordon Brown Centre residential next week; don’t forget to check out the blog to find out what they are getting up to. We hope the children and staff have a wonderful time and we cannot wait to hear all about their adventures on their return.

I hope you have a wonderful bank holiday weekend – fingers crossed for some nice weather (or at least dry!)

Attendance

This week’s whole school attendance is 95.39% %

Although the government sets a target of 95% for primary schools, our governors have set a target of 98% for our school.  This is because an attendance rate of 95% still means that your child would have had approximately ten days of absence throughout the year; this is considered a significant loss to learning.

The class with the best attendance this week is year 1, with 99%. Well done year 1!

A NIGHT OUT?

If any of our parents would like a night out at the theatre, Mrs Scott-Bromley is appearing in Noel Coward’s, Blithe Spirit.  She is playing Madame Acarti a very quirky medium, who accidentally summons up the ghost of Mr Condomine's first wife, much to the annoyance of his second wife!

(Not really suitable for children!)
