This week at bentley...
I hope this finds you well! I’d like to start by extending a huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Bentley fireworks event last week. It was my first time experiencing Bentley’s renowned fireworks night, and I was truly blown away by the incredible atmosphere and community spirit. The Eiffel Tower bonfire structure was spectacular, adding to a magical evening for everyone! Thank you to our competition winners, who joined Mr Goddard in the procession of the torch in order to light the bonfire.
A huge thank you goes to our PTFA, who, alongside many dedicated volunteers, worked tirelessly running the bar, BBQ, and various stalls. Thanks to their fantastic efforts and the generosity of everyone who attended, we raised an impressive £3,000! These funds will go a long way in supporting exciting projects and resources for our school community.
Last week, our Year R children enjoyed a special trip to the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre to watch The Gruffalo. Mrs. Scott Bromley reports that the children were thoroughly captivated, laughing, and joining in with the fun throughout the show—a wonderful first theatre experience for many!
This week, our Year 5 pupils had an inspiring day at the Science Centre in Winchester as part of their Space topic. The children engaged in hands-on exhibits, learned more about the planets, and even had a chance to explore the universe through a show in the planetarium! Mrs Ashby reports that the pupils’ curiosity and enthusiasm were inspiring to see as they learned more about our solar system and beyond. On Wednesday, Year 5 visited the science museum in Winchester where they learnt about space and the solar system as part of this term’s topic on space. First they went into the planetarium to see the planets close up. This was followed by time spent exploring the interactive exhibits in the museum. They learnt about air pressure and gravity, as well as having an opportunity to see how black holes and asteroids behave.
Finally, they took part in scientific investigations to understand the workings of the James Webb space telescope. It was a great day out that enriched their learning and was enjoyed by all.
Today, our school community has come together once again, with children dressing in their own clothes to raise money for Children in Need. I am delighted to share that we’ve raised an impressive £282.17. Thank you to all families who contributed; it’s wonderful to see our children so enthusiastic about helping others and serving our wider community.
Thank you once again for your continued support and involvement. Each event and activity brings our school community closer together, and I am incredibly grateful for the warmth and enthusiasm you bring to Bentley.

TT ROCKSTARS!
There was no Battle of the Bands this week because we took part in a National competition, England Rocks! We took part along with nearly 5000 schools! Well done for practising your tables and winning points for Team Bentley!
Battle of the Bands is back this week and will run from Friday 15th to Thursday 21st November. Good luck everyone!
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
We still have our book fair in school until Monday 18th November. We will be selling books before and after school (8:30 - 9:15am and 3:15 - 4pm). Please come and support the school if you are able to: for every £10 that is spent, we can earn up to £6 back in rewards to refresh the children’s books in our library.
Thank you for your support so far. We look forward to seeing you at the Book Fair if you haven’t yet been.
FOOD IN SCHOOL
A reminder to all parents that we are a nut free school and children must not bring in any items containing nuts for their lunch boxes. At breaktime all infant children are given a piece of fruit, but you are welcome to send your child in with an alternative snack if you would like. Junior children may bring a healthy snack (fruit or vegetable) in from home for breaktime. No cakes, chocolate or cereal bars please – save these treats for lunchboxes.
HOME CLOTHES DAY
Looking ahead to Christmas, children are welcome to wear their home clothes on Thursday 21st November for raffle prize donations. Please note that this is a change of date. Bottles, cosmetics, food and gift items all welcome!
ECO UPDATE
Regift-Reuse-Relove Christmas Stall
This year Eco Council is going to be hosting a stall at the upcoming Christmas Fair. The Regift-Reuse-Relove stall aims to encourage us all to buy second-hand this Christmas – saving money and the planet at the same time! So this weekend, why not have a sort out! We are searching for GOOD QUALITY CHILDREN’S BOOKS, CHRISTMAS JUMPERS, TOYS AND GAMES (so no holes, missing pieces or alike!). Please bring the item(s) to school and donate in the drop off point on the playground. All items will be sold for 50p and will raise funds for the PTFA. Thank you to the PTFA for supporting this event and also for your donations!
Ministry of Eco Education – Nature Connection Survey
Last week we shared news about the Ministry of Eco Education (MofEE). To help us on our journey we would like families to participate in a Nature Connection Survey please. This information would be a valuable starting point about how nature connected our school community is. The survey is very short and can be accessed here. Thank you so much in advance.
