THIS WEEK AT BENTLEY...

I can hardly believe we are already approaching December—this term is absolutely whizzing by! With the festive season just around the corner, it is wonderful to see the school beginning to feel truly Christmassy. Decorations are starting to appear, and there is a joyful buzz in the air.

This afternoon, we are all eagerly anticipating the PTFA Christmas Fair after school. A huge thank you to our amazing Year 6 pupils, who have been working incredibly hard on their stalls. Your creativity and effort embody the true spirit of community and Christmas—well done, Year 6!

The PTFA team has also been working tirelessly behind the scenes. They have spent the entire day transforming the hall and setting up Father Christmas’ grotto, and I am certain it is going to be a magical event. Thank you, PTFA, for your hard work and dedication—it does not go unnoticed!

Also, this morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming a special guest, Mrs Doyle, who is a local head teacher, to our school. She was incredibly impressed by our children’s behaviour and their keenness to learn, which makes me feel even prouder of our wonderful Bentley family. Moments like this remind me just how special our school community is.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Christmas Fair later today!

…to the French family for the books. We are very grateful for your donations.

TT ROCKSTARS!

Well done to Kolbe house!  This week they won the Battle of the Bands competition, which involved all of the key stage two classes in a house competition.  Excellent work for practising your times tables and helping your house to win this week!

The next Battle of the Bands will be another house competition! Keep practising your tables and try to help your house to win! This will run Friday 29th  November until Thursday 5th December. Good luck everyone!

FOOTBALL COMPETITION

We had a fantastic time representing Bentley at the Alton schools football tournament. From the minute we arrived, we bonded as a team and assigned roles according to each others strengths. Whilst matches were being played, our rolling subs were fantastic cheerleaders from beginning to end, supporting all players on pitch from the sidelines. Our players on the pitch made sure to help all team mates and kept an eye on the whole match as well as focusing on the ball when they needed to. Every member had the team's best interests at heart throughout the entire afternoon, both on and off the pitch. Even during a tough final match, as soon as half time was called the subs ran to the team and we were all discussing how we could try to achieve a comeback by the we they got to back to adults helping. We achieved an amazing joint 3rd position out of 6 teams. Well done team Bentley!

YEAR 4 GEOGRAPHY WALK

Yesterday Year 4 enjoyed a sunny but cold walked around Bentley to support their geography learning.  They had each prepared a fieldwork question to answer.  Here are some of the things we found out:  'The land is used in many different ways.'

'We found six public bins, a recycling bank and solar panels.'

'The pond is a physical feature, the buildings and roads are human features.'

Thank you very much to the three parent volunteers who accompanied us on this trip.

CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY

We were very impressed to see so many medals and certificates in assembly this morning. We love hearing about all the children’s achievements outside of school! In particular it has been lovely to hear feedback from Gymastics club about the children’s phenomenal progress and enthusiasm.

ECO UPDATE

Young ACAN Pollinators Poster Competition

If you’re looking for an activity this weekend, why not enter the Young ACAN Pollinators Poster Competition? We would like as many children as possible to get involved in this exciting poster competition to raise awareness of the decrease in bees and butterflies this year and to encourage us all to take action.  Young ACAN is asking young people from 4-18 to create an eye-catching and inspiring poster so older brothers and sisters are welcome to get involved as well. There will be prizes for the best entries as well as a public exhibition.  Closing date: Monday 2nd December.

Wanted: Pre-loved wellies and waterproofs

Thank you so much to the Cavanough family for the kind donation of wellies.  We would still very much welcome your pre-loved wellies and waterproofs to add to our current stock for use at Forest Explorers and other outdoor learning opportunties.  Please bring your donations into school and they will be very gratefully received!  Thank you once again in advance.
